Biography

I have been teaching writing at the college and university level for over thirty-five years.

For the last fifteen years I have been a professor of English and Humanities at San Diego City College, teaching research writing, creative writing, critical thinking, humanities, and world religions.

My M.A. is in Comparative Literature from the University of Chicago, and my Ph.D. is in English from the University of California at Davis.

In recent years I have also been a consultant for Prentice Hall on a new humanities textbook series.

I began work as a freelance writer of non-fiction in 1999. Until Our Last Breath is my first full length work for a general audience. Look on the right of this page for a link to my main website, where my fiction is discussed.

I am an avid tennis player, fair-weather sailor, intrepid traveler, voracious reader, loyal Padres fan, and a pretty good chef.
